The last time a British car had won Le Mans outright was 1953. Thirty-five years of watching Germany, France and Italy take turns on the top step of the podium. Thirty-five years of near misses, mechanical failures and what-ifs. An entire generation of British motorsport fans who had never seen their flag raised at the Circuit de la Sarthe.

Tom Walkinshaw understood what was at stake.

He didn't just build a racing team. He built a statement. The XJR-9 was engineered with the kind of quiet obsession that the British reserve for things that matter — methodical, precise, relentlessly developed. The Silk Cut livery in pale lavender and white was elegant almost to the point of understatement. It looked like it belonged at a garden party. It drove like it belonged at the front.
